Ashley Shackleford (Burlington, N.J./Holy Cross HS) sent the Holy Family University women's soccer team to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championship game with her score in the 64
th minute as the Tigers defeated Dominican College, 1-0, in the semifinals on Thursday morning at the Wilmington University Athletics Complex.Â

Holy Family, seeded number one in the tournament, improves to 11-5-3 overall, while Dominican, seeded fifth, concludes its season at 8-5-4 overall. The Tigers have won five straight games and are unbeaten in their previous seven contests.Â

Holy Family will be appearing in its second conference championship game in the last three seasons and will face No. 2 Caldwell College. The Cougars defeated sixth-seeded Philadelphia University, 1-0, in their semifinal match up.Â

In the 64
th minute Shackleford was awarded a penalty kick after a Dominican foul inside the box area. An All-CACC 2
nd team selection, Shackleford connected on the kick to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead. It marked her sixth score of the season.

In Holy Family fashion the Tigers went on to keep the Chargers off the scoreboard as the team recorded their tenth shutout of the season.Â

Holy Family outshot Dominican by a 21-7 margin and had a 6-0 corner kick advantage. Freshman goalkeeper
Sienna Smith (Pottsville, Pa./Pottsville Regional) made stops in net for the Tigers as the Chargers managed only two shots on target.Â

Freshman Gina Yannette made eight saves in net for Dominican.

Holy Family is back in action on Saturday, Nov. 9 as the Tigers look to complete their quest for a ninth conference championship. Holy Family has previously won the CACC Title in 2011, 2009, 2007, 2005, 2003, 2001, 2000 and 1999.  The Tigers and Caldwell will face off at 1:30 p.m.
