Tigers Shutout Caldwell, 2-0

BOX SCORE

Philadelphia, Pa. - The Holy Family University women's soccer team recorded a 2-0 shutout victory over visiting Caldwell College in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest on Saturday afternoon at Tiger Field.

Holy Family improves to 6-5-2 overall and 5-1-2 in conference play, while Caldwell is now 7-5-2 overall and 5-2-2 in the CACC.  The win also pushes the Tigers into a tie with Caldwell for third place in the CACC standings.  Both teams currently have 17 points and trail only Dominican College (19) and Georgian Court University (26) in the standings.

After a scoreless first half, Holy Family quickly changed the game's status with a goal minutes into the second stanza.  Freshman Ursula Coyle (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower) connected on her fourth goal of the season after receiving a pass from junior MaryKate Morris (Philadelphia, Pa./Saint Hubert's) in the 48th minute.

Holy Family doubled its lead later in the half after the Tigers converted a corner kick attempt into a score.  Morris took the kick and launched the ball inside the box where junior Madison Hudson (Oakville, Ontario - Canada/Oakville Trafalgar) was waiting.  Hudson headed the ball into the back of the net for her second goal of the season giving the Tigers a 2-0 advantage in the 61st minute.

The score remained that way the rest of the way as the Tigers completed their sixth shutout victory of the season.  Freshman goalkeeper Sienna Smith (Pottsville, Pa./Pottsville Regional) made ten saves in net for the Tigers.

Caldwell junior goalkeeper, Robin Franchi, made four stops after facing 11 shots by Holy Family.

Holy Family is back in action on Monday, Oct. 21 as the Tigers travel to face cross-town rival Philadelphia University in a make-up conference contest.  Game time is slated for 3 p.m.
