Caldwell, N.J. - The Holy Family University women's soccer team dropped its Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) season opener by the score of 4-3 to Caldwell College Saturday afternoon. Junior Rebecca Stinger scored the game-winning goal in the 86
th minute for the Cougars.
Holy Family is now 0-3-0 overall and 0-1-0 in conference play, while Caldwell improves to 2-2-0 overall and starts conference play with a 1-0-0 mark.
Caldwell jumped out to an early two-goal lead as the Cougars scored back-to-back goals in the 14
th and 15
th minute of the first half. Caldwell received goals by sophomores Ashlee Paknis and Natalie Migoya to take a 2-0 lead.
Holy Family responded late in the half as freshman
Jenna Richards (Croydon, Pa./Conwell Egan) connected on her first goal of her career after receiving a pass from senior
Megan Tole (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) from 15-yards out. Richards' goal cut the lead to 2-1 in the 35
th minute.
In the second half, the Tigers tied the game at 2-2 minutes into the half after junior
Erin Blaney (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower) scored her first goal of the season in the 49
th minute. Blaney headed a pass after a cross pass into the back of the net. Tole and sophomore
Madison Hudson (Oakville, Ontario - Canada/Oakville Trafalgar) assisted on the play.
Minutes later, Caldwell responded to retake the lead after Migoya connected on her second goal of the game after receiving a pass from Paknis to make the score 3-2.
The lead would be short lived as Holy Family quickly responded tying the game at 3-3. Senior
Bree'an Blaney (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower) scored the Tigers' third goal of the game after receiving a pass from freshman
Lisa Abramski (Lindenhurst, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial) in the 52
nd minute.
The game remained tied until Stinger came through with the game-winning goal in the 86
th minute to give Caldwell the 4-3 victory. Stinger received a pass from 15-yards out to connect on the game-winner.
Caldwell held the advantage on total shots (21-9) for the game as well as corner kicks (7-0).

Rachel Dunkle (Blandon, Pa./Fleetwood) made eight saves in net for the Tigers.
Holy Family is back in action on Monday, Sept. 10 as the Tigers host Shippensburg University in the team's first home game of the season. The non-conference contest is slated for 4 p.m.
