Men’s Basketball Drops Conference Contest to Bloomfield, 87-74

Philadelphia, Pa. - The Holy Family University men's basketball team dropped a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest to Bloomfield College, 87-74, at the Campus Center Saturday afternoon.

Holy Family is now 5-16 overall and 3-8 in the CACC, while Bloomfield improves to 12-7 overall and 9-2 in the CACC.

Junior Tim Smith (Philadelphia, Pa./Cardinal Dougherty) (Philadelphia, Pa./Cardinal Dougherty) scored a team-high 15 points to lead the Holy Family offense. Smith also grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds to record a double-double and also dished out seven assists. Fellow classmate Sam Mushman (Hackettstown, N.J./Pope John XXIII) (Hackettstown, N.J./Pope John XXIII) had a near perfect afternoon shooting as he knocked down 6-of-7 attempts from the field and 2-of-2 from beyond the arc to tally 14 points off the bench.

Freshman Rashaad Sneed (Durham, N.C./Hillside Heat Academy) (Durham, N.C./Hillside Heat Academy) and sophomore Khiry Hankins (Cincinnati, Ohio/Summit Country Day School) (Cincinnati, Ohio/Summit Country Day School) each scored 13 points, while freshman Levente Csorvasi (Kecskemet, Hungary /Afeosz) (Kecskemet, Hungary/Afeosz) finished with ten points for the Tigers.

For Bloomfield, senior Ryan Rodrigues scored a game-high 25 points after knocking down six three-pointers (6-11). He shot 9-of-17 from the field and also grabbed six boards. Freshman Mike Williams and junior Matt Wafula each scored 13 points. Senior Gage Daye, the conference's leading scorer, was limited to only 10 points as he shot 3-of-14 from the field and 1-of-8 from three.

With the score tied 62-62 and only 9:17 left to play in regulation, Bloomfield went on a 13-0 run to pull away from Holy Family as the Deacons had a 75-62 advantage with 5:46 on the clock.

The Deacons closed out the game outscoring the Tigers 25-12 on their way to the 87-74 victory. The Bloomfield defense held Holy Family to only three field goals the final 9:17 of action.

Holy Family is back in action on Tuesday, Feb. 8 as the Tigers travel to Philadelphia University for a CACC contest. Game time is slated for 7 p.m.
