Women’s Soccer Rallies to Defeat Nyack, 2-1

Nyack, N.Y. - The Holy Family University women's soccer team scored two unanswered goals to defeat Nyack College by the score of 2-1 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest Saturday afternoon. 
 
With the win, Holy Family improves to 7-6 overall and 5-4 in conference play, while Nyack is now 4-10 overall and 4-5 in CACC action.
 
Nyack jumped on the scoreboard first in the 23rd minute as junior Stacey Cervantes scored her fourth goal of the season.  Cervantes was able to get a shot off inside the goalkeepers box as Nyack led 1-0.
 
Holy Family tied the game at 1-1 when senior Lindsay Fisher (Oakford, Pa./Archbishop Wood) scored her first goal of the season scoring from inside the box in the 40th minute. 
 
The score remained tied at 1-1 through the rest of the half and into halftime.  It wasn't until the 62nd minute of action that Holy Family broke the deadlock to take a 2-1 lead.  Junior Kathryn Helkowski (Levittown, Pa./Conwell Egan) scored her first goal of the season after launching a shot from 40-yards out as the ball bounced up the goalkeeper crossing the goal line for the score.
 
Holy Family maintained the 2-1 lead the rest of the way to secure the victory over Nyack.
 
Holy Family is back in action on Wednesday, Oct. 19 as the Tigers host Chestnut Hill College in a CACC contest.  Game time is slated for 4 p.m.
