Men’s Basketball Falls to Assumption, 100-59

Worcester, Mass. - The Holy Family University men's basketball team dropped a non-conference contest to Assumption College, 100-59, during day one of the East Coast Classic at Laska Gym in Worcester, Mass., Wednesday afternoon.

Holy Family is now 2-9 overall, while Assumption improves to 5-6 overall.

Junior Sam Mushman (Hackettstown, N.J./Pope John XXIII) (Hackettstown, N.J./Pope John XXIII) scored a team-high 12 points to lead Holy Family. Mushman was a perfect 6-of-6 from the field off the bench. He also grabbed five rebounds and recorded two blocks. Freshman Ben Savidge (Reading, Pa./Exeter) (Reading, Pa./Exeter) contributed ten points, while fellow classmates Nate Hodge (Columbia, Md./Oakland Mills) (Columbia, Md./Oakland Mills) and Levente Csorvasi (Kecskemet, Hungary /Afeosz) (Kecskemet Hungary) each added eight points apiece.

For Assumption, sophomore Bobby Harris led a quartet of Greyhounds that scored in double-figures. Harris finished with a team-high 17 points to go along with five rebounds and four assists. Senior Mike Baldarelli had 16 points after shooting 5-of-8 from the field, while freshman Cory Schmidt scored 14 points off the bench. Senior Tobin Haase added 11 points.

Assumption shot 59.4-percent from the field in the first half as the Greyhounds outscored Holy Family 56-27. Assumption knocked down 11 three-pointers in the first half and finished the game with 15 three-point baskets.

Holy Family is back in action on Thursday, Dec. 30 against Stonehill College on the last day of the East Coast Classic. Game time is slated for 1 p.m.
