Philadelphia, Pa. – The Holy Family University women's soccer team has advanced to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) semifinals after defeating Caldwell College, 3-1, in a quarterfinal match Monday afternoon.
Holy Family, seeded fourth in the tournament, improves to 12-5-1 overall, while Caldwell, seeded fifth in the tournament, concludes the year at 10-8-0.

Jillian Shank (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower) scored her second goal of the season to put Holy Family ahead early with the game's first lead in the tenth minute of play. Shank scored unassisted across the middle as she launched the ball into the back of the net.
The Tigers doubled their lead when junior Dawn Curry (Pennsville, N.J./Pennsville) scored what would eventually be the game-winning goal in the 23rd minute. Curry's 11th goal of the season came off a corner kick situation as freshman Kristi Whittaker (Deptford, N.J./Deptford) assisted on the play.
Holy Family held on to the 2-0 lead through halftime, however Caldwell cut the lead in half when freshman Rebecca Stinger connected on her third goal of the season off a rebound shot by fellow classmate Julie Crankshaw. Stinger's goal made it 2-1 in the 55th minute of play.
With less than eight minutes remaining in regulation Holy Family was rewarded a penalty kick after a foul took place inside the box. Junior Lindsey Fisher (Oakford, Pa./Archbishop Wood) converted the penalty kick for her fifth goal of the season and in the process increased the Tigers lead to 3-1.
Holy Family held onto the lead the rest of the way to secure the victory and advance to the CACC semifinals.
Junior goalkeeper Gina Mansi (Washington, Twp., N.J./Washington Twp.) had five saves in net for the Tigers.
Holy Family is back in action on Thursday, Nov. 4 against the winner of the #8 Felician College/#1 Wilmington University contest in the CACC semifinals. Game time is still to be determined.
