Freshman Shannon Metzler was named the CACC Women's Soccer Rookie of the Week for the week ending Sept. 21. Holy Family went 2-1-0 this past week to improve to 4-3-0 overall and 3-1-0 in conference play. The Tigers began the week with a setback at Mercy College, 7-1, on Tuesday, but bounced back with two straight wins against conference opponents. Holy Family defeated Wilmington University, 3-2, on Thursday after trailing 2-0 at the half. The Tigers capped the week with a 7-0 victory versus Bloomfield College on Saturday.Â
Metzler scored one goal and had two assists on the week; all coming in the team's win versus Bloomfield. She also made an appearance in goal for the Tigers against the Wildcats. With the Tigers already down two goalkeepers, Metzler went in net for the final 41:40 minutes of the half. She made two saves and didn't allow a goal to earn the victory.
