Sowa was hired as Holy Family’s pitching coach prior to the 2027 season.
He brings a unique combination of high school, Division I, professional baseball, and extensive coaching experience to the baseball field at HFU.
A 2011 graduate of Father Judge High School, Sowa was a standout baseball player, earning All-Catholic and All-City honors as a pitcher and third baseman.
He continued his playing career at Rider University, where he was a four-year weekend starter and established himself as one of the most accomplished pitchers in program history.
Sowa holds Rider’s single-season record for wins with 11, while ranking top five in program history with 23 wins and 281 innings pitched. He was named the 2013 MAAC Pitcher of the Year and earned First Team All-MAAC, First Team All-New Jersey D1, NCAA Division I All-Region, and ECAC Division I All-Star Second Team honors during his time as a Bronc.
During the summer, Sowa played in the New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL), pitching for the Mystic Schooners in 2013 and the Plymouth Pilgrims in 2014, earning an All-Star bid at the former.
Following his collegiate career, he went on to pitch professionally for the Joliet Slammers of the Frontier League.
Sowa has built an extensive coaching background focused on player development and preparing athletes for the next level.
He began his coaching career as the pitching coach at Bensalem High School, helping develop nine pitchers who went on to compete at the collegiate level, including two - Matthew McShane and Nick Dean - who went on to be selected in the MLB Draft.
During his tenure as Bensalem's pitching coach, the program captured three league championships (2018, 2019 and 2021), a District Championship in 2018, and finished as the 2018 State Runner-Up, leading to him being promoted to head coach for three seasons.
Sowa has coached at multiple levels, including as the head coach of the Philly Bandits, as well as worked in the private sector running camps and providing private instruction to players of all ages.
In addition to coaching and teaching, he serves as the athletic director of baseball for Bensalem Ramblers Little League, overseeing all baseball operations.
Outside of baseball, Sowa works full-time as a high school special education teacher.
He earned his master’s degree in education from Holy Family in 2017.
