Holy Family announced the hiring of Fran Cattani, as the program’s first assistant coach in July 2023.
Cattani brought with him 25 years of experience at the high school level, most recently spending the last 12 as the assistant coach, defensive coordinator, and goalie coach at Holy Ghost Preparatory School.
He has played a part in over 240 wins as an assistant, which has included stops at both Neshaminy High School and The Hun School, where he won a New Jersey Prep “A” Championship.
Additionally, he started the program at Newtown Friends School in the early 1990s.
Cattani was a four-year member of the Villanova University club lacrosse team, where he was elected as a senior captain in 1978.
He would go on to heavily immerse himself in local club lacrosse in the tri-state region, playing and coaching at both Philadelphia Box Lacrosse and Southeastern PA Summer Lacrosse.
In 2006, he was a member of the Philadelphia Freedom Over 45-Year-Old Team that represented the area at the World Lacrosse Championship in London, Ontario.
In addition to serving as a youth coach for several local clinics, camps and teams, Cattani was the organizer and chairman of the Bucks County Lacrosse Coaches Alliance and Coaches Cup Tournament, which brought together over 70+ region coaches and post-college players for a one-day tournament that raised over $10,000 for underfunded youth lacrosse programs in the area.
He is a member of the Intercollegiate Men’s Lacrosse Coaches Association, USA Lacrosse – Philadelphia Chapter and the Interscholastic Lacrosse Coaches Association.
Cattani received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Villanova.
He is married to his wife Robin, with whom he has a son, Fran Jr., and daughter, Gabriella.
In 2005, Cattani and Fran Jr. became the first father-son duo to play men’s lacrosse for Villanova, a program he remains active with as a board member of the Friends of Villanova Men’s Lacrosse Association.
