Smith joined the Holy Family coaching staff prior to the 2022 season.
In her first year with the Tigers, HFU led the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) with five All-League honorees and advanced to the CACC Tournament Semifinals for the fourth season in a row.Â
Smith brought with her extensive knowledge of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC), having spent the previous eight years at fellow league member University of the Sciences, the final five of which were as the head coach.Â
Â
She improved USciences’ CACC finish in each of her four seasons as the head coach (the 2020 season was cancelled due to COVID), as the Devils’ 12 overall wins in 2019 and nine CACC victories in both 2019 and 2021 were their most since 2013.Â
Â
University of the Sciences also registered its first four-match win streak since 2014 in 2019, while its fifth place finish in the CACC South Division in 2021 was its best since 2015.Â
Â
Tori Wright became program’s first All-CACC honoree since 2013 in 2019 as she was named the third CACC Rookie of the Year in program history, and she repeated as All-CACC in 2021.
Â
The Devils broke set new single-season team records (25-point format) in kills per set, assists per set, service aces and block assists during Smith’s tenure.Â
Â
Smith brought 15+ years of coaching experience to USciences, having started coaching right out of high school for her local middle school program. She quickly moved up through the ranks, taking charge of the freshmen team as well as becoming an assistant for the varsity program.
Â
In 2005, she made the move to the east coast and quickly immersed herself in the volleyball community. After being hired at Division III Rutgers-Camden in 2007 and spending a season with the Scarlet Raptors, she moved on to another NCAA Division III program at Rowan University in 2009, where she stayed for two years.
Â
Smith has also coached at the club level, having worked with East Coast Crush Volleyball Club (2008-2012) and Quandomania Volleyball Club (2012–2017), serving as the social media and communications director for the latter.Â
Â
Originally from Michigan, Smith played volleyball all four years in high school and earned numerous varsity letters and all-conference mentions.Â
Â
She graduated from Grand Valley State University in Michigan with a bachelor’s degree in Public and Nonprofit Administration.
Â
Smith currently works for After-School All-Stars (ASAS) Philadelphia & Camden as the director of development.
