Andrew Silverman

Andrew Silverman became the third head coach in program history as the 2015-16 season will be his first as head coach of the Holy Family women's tennis team.

Silverman came to Holy Family after a short stint at Bryn Mawr College where he served as interim head women’s tennis coach for the 2015 spring season.  Prior to that, Silverman spent six seasons (2008-2014) with Chestnut Hill College as assistant tennis coach for the men’s and women’s programs.

At Chestnut Hill, Silverman assisted in running practices for both teams on a daily basis and participated in recruiting aspects at the Division II level by attending combines and recruiting showcases in the tri-state area.  In addition, he helped run the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Regional Tournament from 2008-2014, which was hosted by Chestnut Hill.

Silverman also helped guide the Griffins to the NCAA Division II Tournament as both the men’s and women’s teams qualified for postseason play from 2011-14.  As a result, he was named the 2011-12 and 2013-14 ITA Division II East Region Women’s Assistant Coach of the Year.  Silverman was also named the East Region’s Men’s Assistant Coach of the Year in 2013-14.

During his collegiate career, Silverman attended West Chester University and served as the men's tennis representative to the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and served as vice president of SAAC during his fifth-year at West Chester. He also served as team captain from 2005-2007. As vice president he helped organized successful fundraisers for the American Cancer Society's "Relay for Life" and The Make a Wish Foundation. During his senior year, he was selected as a finalist to represent the Golden Rams at the NCAA Leadership Conference in Orlando, Florida.

Silverman graduated from West Chester in 2008 with a bachelor's degree physical education and health with minors in coaching and adapted physical education.  He went on to earn a Master of Education in Secondary Education from Chestnut Hill in 2015.

Professionally, Silverman is a Health and Physical Education teacher in the School District of Philadelphia where he’ll begin his seventh academic year this upcoming school year.
