Dr. Taurai Augustin (Doc) returned to his alma mater as an assistant coach prior to the 2025-26 season.
Augustin had previously spent three seasons as a volunteer assistant at HFU, playing an integral role in supporting the development of student-athletes while contributing to the overall success and culture of the program both academically and athletically, as he helped the Tigers win their first-ever women’s ECC Indoor Championship.
He worked closely with student-athletes in the areas of running and strategy in long sprints, distance, relays and cross country, assisting with daily training sessions, meet preparation, meet photography and athlete development.
As a student-athlete at HFU, Augustin earned All-CACC honors in cross country, the 800m, 1500m, 4x100m relay and the 4x400m relay, as well as All-ECC honors in the 500m, 800m, 1000m, mile and the 4x400m relay.
He holds four school records (indoor 800m, indoor 1,000m, indoor mile and outdoor 1500m), is the only two-time CoSIDA Academic All-American in HFU history and was voted the 2018 Northeast Times Male Holy Family Male Athlete of the Year.Â
Augustin holds a degree in medicine from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and is a member of the International Society for Sports Psychiatry (ISSP).
