R.C. Kehoe

R.C. Kehoe is entering his eighth season at the helm of the Holy Family University men’s basketball team.  On April 8, 2011, Kehoe became the fifth ever head men’s basketball coach in Holy Family University history.  A Philadelphia native, Kehoe joined the Tigers with nearly a decade of collegiate coaching experience.  He spent five years as an assistant coach at the NCAA Division I level with the University of Delaware.

The 2018-19 season the Tigers will look to improve on last year’s 4-23 overall record and 3-16 finish in the CACC.  Holy Family was selected to finish fifth in the CACC South Division with only three points separating the team from fourth place with USciences.

A year after hosting the NCAA Division II East Region, the Tigers featured a whole new lineup after needing to replace nine seniors from the previous campaign.  The Tigers took on a tough schedule that included a number of national ranked and regionally ranked opponents.  Holy Family finished 11-17 overall and 9-10 in the CACC; just missing out on postseason play by one spot in the standings.

The 2015-16 season was one to remember for the Tigers. Holy Family capped the year at 26-6 setting a new program record for most wins in a season since joining Division II in 2003-04.  The Tigers also became the first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) team to receive the number one seed and host the East Regional.  In addition, Holy Family claimed its first CACC Tournament Title in program history and the team's second CACC South Division Regular Season title under Kehoe.

In 2014-15, the Tigers advanced all the way to the CACC semifinals after recording a 15-4 record in conference play to finish second in the CACC South Division.  Holy Family ended the year with a 22-8 overall record setting a record for most wins in a season since joining NCAA Division II.

In 2013-14, Kehoe led the Tigers all the way to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) championship game for the first time since the 2007-08 season and for the second time in the team’s NCAA era.  The Tigers were edged by cross-town rival Philadelphia University, 42-40, as Holy Family finished the season with a 21-10 record.  The 21 wins tied the the 2007-08 team for most wins in a season since joining NCAA Division II in 2003-04.

As a team, the Tigers were the 2013-14 National Statistical Champion in field goal percentage defense.  Holy Family limited opponents to just 37.1-percent shooting from the field; the lowest in Division II.

In 2012-13, Holy Family ended a four-year stretch of losing seasons as the Tigers finished with an 18-10 overall record.  Holy Family also finished 13-4 in conference play marking the most victories against CACC opponents since the 2007-08 season.   As a result, the Tigers claimed their first-ever CACC South Division Regular Season Title.  Prior to that, Holy Family shared regular season titles in 2006-07 and 2004-05 before the conference switched to division play in 2007-08.

In his first season with Holy Family, Kehoe guided the team to their best finish since the 2007-08 season.  The Tigers finished 12-14 overall and 8-9 in conference play and as a result qualified for the CACC Tournament for the first time since the 2008-09 season.  The team had three players selected to the All-CACC team.  In addition, senior Rickie Crews led the nation with 3.85 blocks per game and was only one of two players to block 100 shots during the year in Division II.

Kehoe completed his fifth season with the Delaware men’s basketball program after the 2010-11 season in which he helped guide the Blue Hens to the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Championship Quarterfinals.  Kehoe began his stint as part of the Delaware staff in 2006-2007 under first year head coach Monté Ross.

While at Delaware, Kehoe served as the recruiting coordinator and handled the scheduling of non-conference opponents.  He also assisted in the scouting of opponents and was in charge of organizing and monitoring the team budget, in addition to his on-court coaching responsibilities.  Kehoe also directed individual instruction sessions for the players and assisted in summer basketball camps.

Prior to his arrival at Delaware, Kehoe was an assistant coach at the University of Maryland-Baltimore County in 2005-06.  He joined the UMBC staff under head coach Randy Monroe in the summer of 2005.  While at UMBC, Kehoe assisted in recruiting, scouting of opponents and scheduling.  He also directed individual instruction sessions for the team and coordinated weekly academic meetings with the players.

He earned his bachelor’s degree in speech communications from NCAA Division II Shippensburg University in 2004 after competing collegiately at Clarion University in 1997-1999 and East Stroudsburg University in 1999-2001.

While at Clarion, Kehoe led the team in assists in 1998-99 and was second in 1997-98.  He also was fourth in steals both seasons.  The Golden Eagles reached the PSAC playoffs each year while he was a member of the team. During his playing days at East Stroudsburg, Kehoe was team captain and also broke the school record for three-point field goals made in a season with 66.  He also assisted the coaching staff with film exchange and scouting.

Kehoe began his collegiate coaching career as an assistant at Shippensburg from 2002-2004.  From there, Kehoe moved up to the NCAA Division I level in 2004-2005 at St. Francis University as an assistant coach.

A native of Philadelphia, Kehoe was a four-year member of the Roman Catholic boys basketball team.  The team won the Philadelphia Catholic League Championship three times (1993, 1994 & 1996).  From 1993-1996 the team finished in the Top-25 in the USA Today rankings.
