ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. –
Luiz Recchimuzzi's (Bahia, Brazil/Life Center Academy) first career goal, 9:36 into the action, led the HFU Men's Soccer Team to a 1-1 draw at Molloy on Tuesday night.
The senior was set up by
Jackson Kiss (Warrington, Pa./Archbishop Wood), who picked up his second career assist on the score.
That was part of a dominant first half for the Tigers, who outshot the Lions 11-3 in the period, as Kiss, Recchimuzzi and
Miguel Graneda (Valladolid, Spain/Colegio San Agustin) all had attempts saved over the first 22 minutes.
Adriel Grant (Marlboro, N.J./Marlboro) was then denied twice in the last 1:43, which included a goal line clearance from a defender.
Kiss was stopped again 1:28 out of the break, before Molloy equalized on its first shot on target – a free kick - of the contest in the 61st.
Not long after, 1:40, Holy Family was reduced to 10 men.
Still, the Tigers managed shots on goal from
Rafael Gouvea (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil/Life Center Academy) and
Lucca Saad (São Paulo, Brazil/The Phelps School) down the stretch, and
Joey Phillips (Levittown, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) made three saves to preserve the draw.
His first two saves came in quick succession, in the 65th and 66th minutes, and after making one final one in the 84th, he got help from a defender with a goal line clearance 4:41 ahead of the final whistle.
