PHILADELPHIA – The HFU Men's Soccer Team stunned regionally-ranked Queens, a team coming off a draw against a top-five opponent, scoring two goals in the final 12:57 to secure a comeback 2-1 triumph over the Knights at Tiger Field on Wednesday evening.
After Queens broke the 0-0 deadlock on a free kick with just under a half hour remaining,
Chamar Blanchard (Bridgetown, Barbados/Cheltenham) evened the score with his first collegiate goal as he headed home, from the top of the box, a
Lucca Saad (São Paulo, Brazil/The Phelps School) free kick that came from beyond midfield.
Saad then netted the game-winner from the penalty spot with 5:59 remaining, converting after
Jack Stackhouse (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) was fouled in the box by the keeper.
The Knights pushed for an equalizer but were unable to test
Bruno Mestres (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Mackenzie Tambore), who made eight of his career-high 11 saves in the first half.
