LAKEWOOD, N.J. – The Holy Family University Volleyball Team set a new program record for service aces in a three set match with 18 in a sweep (25-21, 25-17, 25-19) at Georgian Court on Wednesday evening.
The previous record of 17 was accomplished twice, in 2008 and 2018.
Individual Highlights
- Abby Bachman (Westampton, N.J./Rancocas Valley) led the way with five, while Kalia Espenlaub (New Market, Md./Saint John's Catholic Prep (Millersville University)) added a career-best four, as the duo combined for half of the 18
- Allana Johnson (Raleigh, N.C./Millbrook) led all players with three blocks
- Mia Wise (Genoa, Ill./Genoa-Kingston) topped the Tigers with 24 assists and eight digs
- Mackenzie Layton (Clarksboro, N.J./Kingsway Regional) posted a team-high 11 kills
How it Happened
- Tied at 17 in the first, HFU took control with four unanswered that ended with three straight Espenlaub service aces
- The Tigers never trailed in the second, opening on a 12-6 run as both Bachman and Rosslyn Briggs (Hagerstown, Md./Boonsboro) produced an ace
- Holy Family then began the third set with first five points, two of which were by Layton
