WATERBURY, Conn. - 17 seconds. That was the time on the clock for both the equalizer in regulation and the game-winner in overtime as the HFU Men's Lacrosse Team picked up its first postseason win in program history, 18-17 at Post, in the First Round of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Tournament on Saturday evening.
The Tigers scored twice in the last 1:32 of regulation to send the contest to overtime, with
Jake Feeney (Voorhees, N.J./Eastern) cutting the deficit to one.
Jonah Corkhill (Absecon, N.J./Holy Spirit) then forced a turnover, setting the stage for
James Bienia (East Moriches, N.Y./Westhampton Beach) to equalize.
Both teams had two potential game-winners saved in the opening 3:13 of the extra period, with
Adam Wickel (Louisville, Ky./Trinity) making multiple stops, before
Frank Britsch's (Feasterville, Pa./Holy Ghost Preparatory School (Moravian)) caused turnover and
Jackson Brown's (Cape May, N.J./Lower Cape May) ground ball led to Bienia finding
Noah Simpson (Oshawa, Ontario/Henry Street) for the game-winner.
