LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. - The Holy Family University Baseball Team swept Lincoln, 16-2 and 6-3, on Wednesday afternoon.
Â
Game One
HFU plated two in the first and led throughout as it registered 17 hits, tied for a season-high in a nine-inning game.Â
Â
Stephen Furia (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown West) and
Jephson Hadson-Taylor (Cheltenham, Pa./La Salle College (University of Maine)) led the way reaching four times, with Furia finishing 3-for-4 with a home run, double, four runs and four RBI and Hadson-Taylor going 3-for-5 with two runs, an RBI and a base on balls.Â
Â
Andres Rivera (Silver Spring, Md./Woodrow Wilson (Montgomery College)),
Torin McKenzie (Hamilton, N.J./Nottingham (Mercer County CC)) and
Brayden King (Beavercreek, Ohio/Beavercreek (Chattanooga State CC)) all reached thrice, while
Nick Lombardo (Willow Grove, Pa./Upper Dublin (Bucks County CC)) also homered as he drove in three.Â
Â
Jelle Bing (Heerhugowaard, Netherlands/CSG Jan Arentsz (McCook CC)) threw his first complete game as a Tiger, limiting the Lions to one earned on seven hits, with seven strikeouts against one walk, over his eight innings.Â
Â
Game TwoÂ
Trailing 0-2 through three, HFU scored in each of its next three at-bats, taking the lead for good with a three-run fifth.Â
Â
After
Jalen David's (Bronx, N.Y./St. Raymond) RBI double halved the deficit in the fourth, an error got the three-run fifth started.
Frank Provenzano (Philadelphia, Pa./La Salle College) followed with a hit-by-pitch and following a
Christian Mote (Branchburg, N.J./Gill St. Bernard's School (Iona University)) sacrifice, Hadson-Taylor evened the score on an RBI groundout.Â
Â
Rivera then walked, before Provenzano stole home to put the Tigers on top.Â
Â
A
Perry Chetney (Baldwinsville, N.Y./Baldwinsville (Millersville University)) single and David base on balls led to the third run coming home on a wild pitch.Â
Â
Mote then provided insurance with a two-run double in the sixth, after a
Griffin Richardson (Warminster, Pa./Greenville (Bucks County CC)) leadoff single and another error.Â
Â
Paul Miazza (Aston, Pa./Sun Valley) earned the win in his first start as a Tiger after surrendering two runs on five hits over four innings.Â
Â
Mitchell Bayles (Glen Allen, Va./Glen Allen (CCBC Essex)) and
Grant Carlton (Ooltewah, Tenn./Boyd Buchanan) then both threw an inning, before
Jorden Sesar (Morrisville, Pa./Morrisville (Manhattan University)) picked up his second save with a perfect seventh.Â
Â
Rivera and David both reached base three times, with Furia joining Rivera in scoring twice.Â
