Men’s Lacrosse Clinches First CACC Tournament Berth in Program History with 28-9 Win at Caldwell

CALDWELL, N.J. - The HFU Men's Lacrosse Team clinched a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Tournament berth for the first time in program history as it defeated Caldwell 28-9 on Saturday. 
 
It was notably a program record for goals for the second straight match. 
 
Individual Highlights
  • Noah Simpson (Oshawa, Ontario/Henry Street) and Jake Feeney (Voorhees, N.J./Eastern) posted the match's two highest goal totals with eight and five, respectively, a career-best for the former
  • James Bienia (East Moriches, N.Y./Westhampton Beach) netted a hat trick as well, while leading all players with three assists
  • Logan O'Keefe (Levittown, Pa./Conwell-Egan Catholic) and Nicholas Maccariella (Williamstown, N.J./Williamstown) had the match's two highest caused turnover totals with five and three, respectively, a career-best for both
    • O'Keefe also scored his first career goal, while Maccariella was second on the Tigers with a season-high five ground balls
  • Frank Britsch (Feasterville, Pa./Holy Ghost Preparatory School (Moravian)) led Holy Family with 17 faceoff wins and nine ground balls
  • Daniel Fierimonte (Philadelphia, Pa./Father Judge) notably caused multiple caused turnovers for the first time in his career
  • Maxx Covely (Somerdale, N.J./Highland) and Xander Kelly (Shohola, Pa./Delaware Valley) both netted braces, with Kelly adding multiple assists
  • Julian Definis (Glendora, N.J./Triton Regional), Jayden Williams (Mays Landing, N.J./Atlantic County Institute of Technology) and Gavin Reid (Point Pleasant, N.J./Point Pleasant) all had multiple assists as well, while Andrew Kayes (Margate City, N.J./Holy Spirit) and Parker Smith (Dover, Del./Caesar Rodney) also had multiple points 
  • Adam Wickel (Louisville, Ky./Trinity) made six saves in net

How it Happened
  • HFU trailed for 1:02 after two Caldwell goals in the span 50 seconds less than five minutes in, but the Tigers responded with four unanswered over 5:07 to regain the lead for good
  • Holy Family then outscored the Cougars 12-3 in the second, highlighted by a Simpson natural hat trick in just 3:17
