HOCKESSIN, Del. - Trailing 4-5 entering the eighth, the HFU Baseball Team broke out for nine runs over its final two at-bats to defeat Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) leader Goldey-Beacom 13-5 on Tuesday afternoon.
Perry Chetney (Baldwinsville, N.Y./Baldwinsville (Millersville University)) reached twice in the five-run eighth, leading off with a single before capping the frame with a bases loaded walk.
Torin McKenzie (Hamilton, N.J./Nottingham (Mercer County CC)),
Christian Mote (Branchburg, N.J./Gill St. Bernard's School (Iona University)) and
Griffin Richardson (Warminster, Pa./Greenville (Bucks County CC)) later came through with three consecutive singles, with the second tying the game at 5-5 and the third putting the Tigers ahead for good.
Those three then led off the four-run ninth with a walk, sacrifice bunt and hit-by-pitch, which set the stage for
Andres Rivera (Silver Spring, Md./Woodrow Wilson (Montgomery College)) to eventually putting an exclamation on the victory with a bases-clearing triple.
That capped a five-RBI performance for Rivera, who also stole three bases and scored.
Chetney led the offense with three hits, finishing 3-for-5 with three RBI, a run and a base on balls.
McKenzie also reached base four times, going 2-for-3 with two walks, while
