PHILADELPHIA -
Jephson Hadson-Taylor's (Cheltenham, Pa./La Salle College (University of Maine)) walk-off single gave the Holy Family University Baseball Team a 4-3 game one victory over Caldwell on Saturday afternoon at La Salle University.
The Cougars would win the nightcap, 2-13.
Two errors allowed Caldwell to plate two unearned runs to tie the game at 3-3 in the ninth, but the Tigers would respond in the bottom-half beginning with
Andres Rivera's (Silver Spring, Md./Woodrow Wilson (Montgomery College)) one out-single.
Following back-to-back walks by
Perry Chetney (Baldwinsville, N.Y./Baldwinsville (Millersville University)) and
Alex Camilo (Cambridge, Ontario/Monsignor Doyle (Alliance University)) and the second out, Hadson-Taylor sent his walk-off single to left field on an 0-2 count.
That was the third time Hadson-Taylor reached, while Chetney reached four times on a double, single and two base on balls.
Trevor Morris (Bensalem, Pa./Bensalem) picked up the win after stranding the bases loaded in the ninth, completing his inning of work.
Starter
Jorden Sesar (Morrisville, Pa./Morrisville (Manhattan University)) was dominant, striking out 11 - his most at HFU - and walking none as he allowed one earned on five hits over seven frames.
Trailing 0-1 entering the bottom of the eight, HFU batted around after
Torin McKenzie (Hamilton, N.J./Nottingham (Mercer County CC)) led off with a base on balls.
Following an error and Rivera stolen base, Chetney came through with a two-RBI single.
Walks by Camilo and Hadson-Taylor then set the stage for a
Griffin Richardson (Warminster, Pa./Greenville (Bucks County CC)) sacrifice fly, which turned out to be important when the Courgars struck for two in the top of the ninth.
