Softball Splits with Defending Regular Season Champion in CACC Opener

BENSALEM, Pa. - The HFU Softball Team split with defending regular season champion Bridgeport, 10-5 and 6-9, in the two teams' Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opener at Bensalem High School on Saturday.

Game One
After the Purple Knights took advantage on an error to tie the game with three unearned runs in the top of the fifth, HFU responded with six in the bottom-half as it sent 10 to the plate.

Lily Hoban (Millsboro, Del./Indian River) recorded two hits, leading off with a single before later making it 9-4 with an RBI single, while Robin Charlton (Philadelphia, Pa./MaST Community Charter School (Hood)) and Olivia Croge (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill West) also had RBI singles.

That capped a 3-for-4 performances for Hoban, who scored two runs and stole a base.

Chalrton, Croge and Hobel also reached multiple times, with Charlton scoring twice and Croge driving in two.

Molly Moore (Conshohocken, Pa./Plymouth Whitemarsh) improved to 3-3 with a complete game effort in which she allowed only two earned runs with seven strikeouts.

Game Two
Holy Family led 4-3 after two and 6-4 after three, but the Tigers could not hold on as UB scored multiple runs in both the fourth and the fifth.

Rachel Allen (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy (Elizabethtown)) cleared the bases with a double in the second, while HFU took advantage of an error to plate two more in the third.

The Purple Knights would tally two unearned runs in the fourth though, before a home run capped the three run fifth.

Holy Family had the tying run reach in the bottom half to no avail, before the game was called due to darkness with two outs in the bottom of the sixth.

Kylee Jones (Hulmeville, Pa./Neshaminy (Rider)) reached in all three of her plate appearances, finishing 2-for-2 with a double and a base on balls, while Adrianna Lisotto (Middletown, N.J./Middletown North) went 2-for-3.
