MORGANTOWN, W.V.  – The Holy Family University Baseball Team bounced back from a 1-3 game one loss to win the nightcap, 7-4, over Shepherd in its season-opening doubleheader hosed Mylan Park on Saturday.  
 
Individual Highlights

• Christian Mote (Branchburg, N.J./Gill St. Bernard's School (Iona University)) went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI, a run, walk and sacrifice in the victory, while Torin McKenzie (Hamilton, N.J./Nottingham (Mercer County CC)) finished 3-for-4
  • McKenzie also reached twice in the opener, finishing the day 4-for-6 with a base on balls
• Mitchell Bayles (Glen Allen, Va./Glen Allen (CCBC Essex)) picked up his first win at HFU after 1.1 innings of one-hit relief, before Grant Carlton (Ooltewah, Tenn./Boyd Buchanan) earned the save with two scoreless frames 
• Game one starter Ryan McLaughlin (Bensalem, Pa./Bensalem (Manhattan University)) threw four innings without allowing an earned run, striking out seven, while Zach Lane (Phoenix, Ariz./Pinnacle (McCook CC)) produced two frames of scoreless one-hit relief

 
How it Happened
Game Two

• HFU took control with a four-run second, which began with back-to-back one out singles by Nick Lombardo (Willow Grove, Pa./Upper Dublin (Bucks County CC)) and Mote before a Jephson Hadson-Taylor (Cheltenham, Pa./La Salle College (University of Maine)) walk loaded the bases
• Peter Hrousis (Bethlehem, Pa./Bethlehem Catholic (Northampton CC)) opened the scoring with an RBI single and after a wild pitch plated the second, Frank Provenzano (Philadelphia, Pa./La Salle College) put a stamp on the frame with a two-RBI single
• Shepherd scored in the second, fourth and fifth but each time the Tigers came back with a run, highlighted by Mote RBIs in the third and fifth

Game One

• The Rams plated three unearned runs in the second and despite bringing the tying run to the plate in the seventh following a McKenzie one-out single, HFU could only manage the one run
