PHILADELPHIA –
Luiz Recchimuzzi's (Bahia, Brazil/Life Center Academy) 60th minute free kick secured the HFU Men's Soccer Team a home playoff match as the Tigers closed out their regular season with a 2-1 comeback victory over Chestnut Hill on Wednesday night.
As the four seed in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Tournament, Holy Family will host fifth-seeded Bridgeport in a quarterfinal matchup on Saturday at 1 p.m.
From about 25 yards out, Recchimuzzi curled his right footed shot around the wall and into the right corner to tie for the team lead with his four goal of the year.
The senior matched classmate
Ever Maradiaga (Edgewater Park, N.J./Life Center Academy), who tied the match at 1-1 in the 27th.
Lucca Saad (São Paulo, Brazil/The Phelps School) played a ball in behind to
Ricardo Paniccia Giraldez (O Porriño, Spain/IES Pino Manso), who slide across face to set up Maradiaga.
The pair is now tied for the team lead with four assists apiece.
Chestnut Hill opened the scoring 14:26 in, but that was one of just two attempts on target on the evening for the Griffins, as
Bruno Mestres (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Mackenzie Tambore) made his only save in the 38th minute.
Holy Family outshot CHC 17-6 on the night, including 11-2 on net, as the Griffins did not register another attempt following Rechimuzzi's match-winner.
