WILMINGTON, Del. – The Holy Family University Men's Basketball Team could not overcome a slow start in an eventual 87-98 loss at Goldey-Beacom on Tuesday night.
Individual Highlights
- Di'Andre Howell-South (Paterson, N.J./Immaculate Conception (Wagner College)) led all players with 22 points, on 8-of-11 field goals, 3-of-3 3-pointers and 3-of-3 free throws
- He added team-highs of six rebounds, five assists, two steals and a blocks
- Matt Gardler (Broomall, Pa./Marple Newtown) was also in double-figures with 17 points
- Karrington Wallace (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Wood (Central Connecticut State University)) had six boards too

- HFU made more 3-pointers and free throws, but Lightning shot better from the floor and had nine more field goals attempts thanks to winning the rebounding battle
How it Happened
- Goldey-Beacom scored the first six points and led throughout, building a first-half-high 25-16 advantage midway through the period
- HFU fought back to within two on four occasions, beginning with back-to-back Howell-South 3-pointers cutting the deficit to 25-27 with 7:37 remaining in the first
- A Wallace free throw also made the score 31-33 3:49 ahead of the break, but the Lightning close the first half scoring for a 35-41 edge entering the locker room
- Holy Family came as close as three in the second when five straight Gardler points got the Tigers within 40-43 1:19 out of the locker room
- GBC countered with a three-point play and despite HFU making it a five-point deficit on three occasions, including at 59-64 on a Kobe Jerome (New Rochelle, N.Y./Blue Ridge School (University of Delaware)) triple with 13:38 left, but the Lightning would use eight unanswered to establish a three-plus-possession advantage for good
