Women’s Basketball Doubles Up Felician in Fourth Quarter to Win Battle of CACC Unbeatens

RUTHERFORD, N.J. – The HFU Women's Basketball Team doubled up Felician in the fourth quarter, 22-11, as the Tigers defeated the Golden Falcons, 66-53, in a battle of Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) unbeatens on Saturday afternoon.

Individual Highlights
  • Taylor Hinkle (Chalfont, Pa./Central Bucks South) led all players with 19 points and 14 rebounds, double the amount of any other player, for her eighth double-double of the season
    • Her 919 boards now rank fourth in program history
  • Kara Meredith (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Archbishop Wood) was right behind her with 18 points and team-highs of two steals and two blocks
  • Skyler Searfoss (Jim Thorpe, Pa./Jim Thorpe Area) led all players with seven assists, tying a career-best
  • Ella Brown (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) was also in double-figures with 11 points, one shy of a season-high

Inside the Box Score
  • Holy Family made nine 3-pointers, tied for its second most this season, to Felician's one

How it Happened
  • 3-pointers by Meredith started and ended a 14-2 run that spanned the end of the first quarter and the beginning of the second, establishing a 21-9 edge with 8:01 left in the first half
  • Back-to-back triples by Amy Ngo (Fort Washington, Pa./Upper Dublin) and Brown later sparked nine unanswered that ended with a Meredith free throw giving HFU a game-high 33-14 lead 4:07 ahead of the break
  • Felician got back into it with the final 10 points of the half, and the Golden Falcons later made a charge to as close two, 44-42, with the last seven points of the third period
  • The Tigers would tally the first seven points of the fourth quarter though, five of which were by Meredith, to establish a multiple-possession advantage for good
  • Three times Felician would get within four in the final 4:39, but each time HFU had a response, and the Tigers would seal the victory by making 6-of-6 foul shots over the last 54 seconds
