Pair of 9-4 Teams Face Off as Volleyball Hosts East Stroudsburg

PHILADELPHIA – A pair of 9-4 teams faced off when the HFU women's volleyball team hosted East Stroudsburg inside of the Campus Center on Tuesday evening. 
 
The Warriors would win in four sets (19-25, 27-25, 17-25, 21-25), despite the Tigers staving off a set point to win the second. 
 
Individual Highlights
  • Keira Rogan (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) led all players with a season-best 23 digs, while Mia Wise (Genoa, Ill./Genoa-Kingston) posted a match-high 35 assists
  • Shelby Kinzer (Sioux Falls, S.D./Washington) paced Holy Family with 17 kills
  • Ava Kidd (Walton, Ky./Larry A. Ryle (Saint Anselm)) tied a match-high with three aces, while Kalia Espenlaub (New Market, Md./Saint John's Catholic Prep (Millersville)) topped the Tigers with two blocks
  • Mackenzie Layton (Clarksboro, N.J./Kingsway Regional) was second on HFU with nine kills and two aces, the latter of which matched Morgan Marziani-Radomski (Aurora, Ill./West Aurora)
  • Cadence Palmer (Holland, Pa./Council Rock South) was also in double-figures with 14 digs

  • The Tigers had more digs and aces, but ESU held major advantages in blocks (2-10) and hitting percentage (.110-.253)
 
How it Happened
  • East Stroudsburg scored the first seven points of the evening and had a set point in the second, but a Kidd ace highlighted a 3-0 run that tied the match at a set apiece
  • After the Warriors started the third strong with six of the first eight points, HFU overcame two three-point deficits in the fourth
  • The Tigers went ahead 15-14 following four unanswered that yet again include a Kidd ace, but ESU came back with the next three points and would lead the rest of the way
