UPPER CHICHESTER, Pa. – The Holy Family University baseball team bounced back from a 2-3 game one loss with a commanding 14-0 shutout victory of AIC in the nightcap on Wednesday at Maplezone Sports Institute.
Individual Highlights
- Making his first start at HFU, Marc Garcia (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville Area Senior (Keystone College)) thew a shutout as he allowed just five hits over his seven frames
- Andy Rivera (Silver Spring, Md./Woodrow Wilson (Montgomery College)) reached in all five plate appearances, finishing 3-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, two walks and a double
- Emidio Bucci (Gambrills, Md./Loyola Blakefield (York College)) was a triple shy of the cycle, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, a home run and a double
- Torin McKenzie (Hamilton, N.J./Nottingham (Mercer County CC)) went 2-for-4 with four RBI, a double and a base on balls, while Alex Camilo (Cambridge, Ontario/Monsignor Doyle (Alliance University)) and Logan Mote (Branchburg, N.J./Gill St. Bernard's School (Lackawanna College)) both had two hits, two runs and an RBI
- Gino Serechia (Hammonton, N.J./Hammonton (Shepherd University)) reached multiple times in both games, finishing the doubleheader 3-for-5 with two RBI and a base on balls
- Making his first career start in the opener, Caelan Phillips (Birmingham, Ala./Spain Park) surrendered just one hit over three scoreless frames
- Thomas Hershey (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville Area (Bucks County CC)), Ian Malone (Bayonne, N.J./Bayonne (Desales University)) and Hunter Kraiza (Havertown, Pa./Haverford (Cabrini University)) combined to not allow an earned run over two innings of relief
How it Happened
Game Two
- Following two scoreless innings, HFU broke through with three straight singles by Bucci, Camillo and Rivera, and after a Stefan Leo (Golden, Colo./Golden Senior (Porterville CC)) walk, Serechia complete a three-run frame with a fourth single
Game One
- Holy Family stranded Yellow Jackets in scoring position in three of the first four frames, but AIC finally broke through with two unearned runs in the fifth
- The Tigers loaded the bases in the bottom-half, after back-to-back singles by Kaden Mannis (Algonquin, Ill./Dundee-Crown (Morton College)) and Serechia and a Dalton Turner (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy (Bucks County CC)) walk, but could not score
- A solo home run made it 0-3 in the sixth, before a Nick Lombardo (Willow Grove, Pa./Upper Dublin (Bucks County CC)) leadoff walk led to HFU getting on the board on back-to-back RBI singles by Garcia and Leo
- Holy Family made the final two outs on the bases though, and the Tigers could not threaten in the seventh
