Baseball Defeats No. 14 Jefferson 11-1 in Game Two

PHILADELPHIA – After No. 14 Jefferson rallied for an 8-14 game one win, the HFU baseball bounced back with an 11-1 triumph over the nationally-ranked Rams on Sunday afternoon.
 
Individual Highlights
  • Marc Garcia (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville Area Senior (Keystone College)) earned a second consecutive complete game win, allowing just the one run, which came in the seventh inning, on four hits
    • He also went 2-for-4 with a walk, double, run and RBI in the opener
  • Brian Comer (Charlotte, N.C./Independence (Bucks County CC)) reached base at least three times in both games, finishing the doubleheader 5-for-8 with six RBI, three runs and two base on balls
  • Andy Rivera (Silver Spring, Md./Woodrow Wilson (Montgomery College)) homered in both games
  • Torin McKenzie (Hamilton, N.J./Nottingham (Mercer County CC)) was 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI in the nightcap
 
How it Happened
Game Two
  • Rivera's second home run of the day put HFU on top three batters in, and Tigers added three more in the second, with Comer singling and scoring in both frames
Game One
  • Holy Family led 3-1 and then 7-3, before tying the game at 8-8 on a Rivera homer in the seventh, but Jefferson broke the tie with a six-run ninth
