Jefferson Pulls Away from Women’s Lacrosse After Tight First Quarter

PHILADELPHIA – After a 0-1 first quarter, Jefferson used a 1-6 second quarter to take control in a 6-16 win over the HFU women's lacrosse team on Wednesday night at Tiger Field. 
 
Individual Highlights
  • Elle Fitzgerald (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) led all players with five ground balls and added a team-high three caused turnovers, both of which were season-bests
  • Tori Wolstenholme (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert Catholic), Rianna Shields (Richboro, Pa./Council Rock South) and Payton Pugh (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert Catholic) all had three caused turnovers as well, with Wolstenholme adding a team-high three draw controls and Shields a team-high two points
    • Wolstenholme also had an assist to move into fourth in program history with 45
    • Shields is now tied for sixth in program history with 54 caused turnovers
    • Payton was second on HFU with four ground balls, moving into seventh in program history with 130 for her career
  • Taina Harkins (Hopewell, N.J./Hopewell Valley Central) scored twice
  • Morgan Steck (Lakewood, Colo./Lakewood) notably made nine saves in her collegiate debut

  • Holy Family held a 21-18 advantage in ground balls, and both teams caused 13 turnovers, but Jefferson outshot the Tigers
