PHILADELPHIA – The s women's soccer pushed its unbeaten start in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play to four matches with a 3-1 win over Post at Tiger Field on Saturday afternoon.
Bridget Dickson (Somerdale, N.J./Sterling) registered her second straight brace, including opening the scoring less than nine a half minutes in after
Gyzell Rowan (Levittown, Pa./Neshaminy) got in behind the defense on an
Allison Devine (Douglassville, Pa./Berks Catholic) lobbed through ball and sent in a cross from the right side of the box for a tap in at the far post.
That was the only attempt on frame in the opening 52 minutes, before a flurry of four shots on target in 3:10.
After
Gwen Dozier (Levittown, Pa./Neshaminy) was denied,
Jaina Preuhs (Brookhaven, Pa./Sun Valley) made her first save in the 53rd minute.
Rowan and
Gianna Georgette (Cochranville, Pa./Octorara Area) then had attempts stopped 22 seconds apart in the 55th and 56th, before
Kenna Rozanski (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Lower Moreland) netted the eventual game-winner – assisted by Rowan and
Samantha Pastino (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) - with an outside-the-box strike in the 69th.
Post made things interesting by halving the deficit just over 10 minutes later, but Dickson sealed the victory on a spectacular run, after passes from Rozanski and
Jessica Wojnar (Cinnaminson, N.J./Holy Cross Preparatory Academy) with 8:34 to play.
Dickson extended her team lead as she now has seven goals, while Rozanski's strike was her second of the season.
Rowan's and Rozanski's assist were the firsts of their collegiate careers, while Devine, Pastino and Wojnar all now are tied for the team lead with two.
Preuhs ended up making thee saves, as Holy Family outshot Post 14-5.
