PHILADELPHIA – Dominican's goal 1:49 into the second half was the only scoring in a 0-1 final between the Chargers and the HFU women's soccer team at Tiger Field on Saturday afternoon.
It was an even match as both teams recorded 11 attempts and five shots on goal, with none coming in the opening 45 minutes.
The Chargers then found the net with the first attempt of the second half.
That opened up the match as both teams forced two saves each 3:12 apart in the 50th through 53rd minutes, with
Gwen Dozier (Levittown, Pa./Neshaminy) denied twice.
Jaina Preuhs (Brookhaven, Pa./Sun Valley) kept the deficit at one with a stop in the 59th, and
Jessica Levush (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge),
Katelyn Perazzola (Warner Robins, Ga./Mount de Sales Academy) and
Gigi Conlan (Queens, N.Y./St. John's Preparatory School) all shot on frame over the next 16 minutes, but HFU could not break through.
