Men’s Soccer Falls to Dominican

PHILADELPHIA – The Holy Family University men's soccer team fell to Dominican by a score of 0-3 on Saturday afternoon at Tiger Field.

Joey Phillips (Levittown, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) made stops 31 seconds apart in the eighth and ninth minutes as the Chargers opened the match with the first three attempts, only for HFU to record the next five.

Those five included shots on net by both Ricardo Paniccia Giraldez (O Porriño, Spain/IES Pino Manso) and Dimitri Lekishvili (Aspindza, Georgia/192 Public School), but those were both saved and the Chargers broke through in the 40th.

Dominican then took control with a second just 3:17 later, taking advantage of an indirect free kick in the box.

Holy Family cleared a first attempt off the line and blocked a second, but the third found its way through a crowded box.

Sean McKenna (Philadelphia, Pa./Father Judge) and Ned Lewis (London, England/Hayesbrook) both saw opportunities to halve the deficit stopped in the opening 16:13 of the second half, before the Chargers closed out the scoring in the 68th.

Bruno Mestres (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Mackenzie Tambore) notably came on to make his Tigers debut in net in the second, making two saves.
