PHILADELPHIA – Caldwell used a strong start to the second half to take control in an eventual 74-79 win over the HFU men's basketball team inside of the Campus Center on Saturday afternoon.
Leading 30-34 at the break, the Cougars opened with a 2-10 spurt to establish a double-digit advantage that would last into the final minute.
Down as many as 19 with just over nine minutes remaining, HFU fought back to within six, 70-76, when
Omarion Jett (Montclair, N.J./Saint Benedict's Prep) capped nine unanswered with six consecutive points at the 28-second mark.
Caldwell sealed the game with three free throws down the stretch though, holding off the Tigers' late surge.
Individual Highlights
- Jett's late push had him end with 19 points on 7-of12 field goals for the game's second highest total, and he also led all players with three steals and two blocks
- CJ Mundell (Somerdale, N.J./Sterling), Jason Shields (Scranton, Pa./Scranton) and Karrington Wallace (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Wood) all had 11 points on over 50 percent shooting, with Mundell adding team-highs of six rebounds and four assists
- Ryan Holmes (Philadelphia, Pa./William Penn Charter School) had four assists as well, to go along with seven points

How it Happened
- The entire first half was played within two possessions outside a momentary 8-16 edge for Caldwell eight minutes into the contest
- Holy Family stormed back with the next eight points, the first six of which came from Mundell, and the two teams exchanged six lead changes and two ties into the final two minutes
- After six straight points from the Cougars, a Shields basket cut the deficit to 30-34 entering the locker room
