PHILADELPHIA – A strong end to the first half lifted Bloomfield to a 74-86 win over HFU men's basketball on Saturday afternoon.
With the Tigers trailing 21-31, five straight points from
Karrington Wallace (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Wood) and a
CJ Mundell (Somerdale, N.J./Sterling) free throw cut the deficit to four with 2:49 left in the first half.
Following a Bears 3-poiner, a
Josiah King (Irvington, N.J./Linden) layup again made it a two-possession game entering the final two minutes.
Bloomfield would close with a 1-9 surge over the last 1:47 through, including tallying the final six points to take a 30-43 advantage into the locker room.
Holy Family make it a single-digit deficit, 61-70, on a
Najee Coursey's (Egg Harbor City, N.J./Cedar Creek) dunk with 4:18 to play, but the Tigers could not get any closer.
Individual Highlights
- Omarion Jett (Montclair, N.J./Saint Benedict's Prep) led the Holy Family with 15 points and four assists
- Mundell added 13 points and a team-high seven rebounds
- Jason Shields (Scranton, Pa./Scranton) and Wallace (5-of-7 field gals) were also in double-figures 12 and 11 points, respectively
