Volleyball Comeback Falls Just Short in Five Set Defeat to Saint Anselm

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – After coming back from an 0-2 deficit (16-25, 19-25) to force a fifth set (28-26, 25-21), the HFU volleyball team's comeback fell short in the fifth set, 7-15, against Saint Anselm on Friday night. 
 
The Tigers had fallen to host East Stroudsburg in three sets (19-25, 11-25, 13-25) in their opening match of the day. 
 
Individual Highlights
  • Ava Kidd (Walton, Ky./Larry A. Ryle (Saint Anselm)) and Shelby Kinzer (Sioux Falls, S.D./Washington) had the match's two kill totals in the nightcap
    • Kidd turned in her first career 20-kill performance on .429 hitting, while Kinzer added 15 on .652 hitting, to go along with a match-best four blocks
  • Keira Rogan (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) led all players with 24 digs versus Sain Anselm, after pacing HFU with six digs in the opener
  • Morgan Steck (Lakewood, Colo./Lakewood) had double the amount of assists as any other player with 40 against the Hawks, falling one dig shy of a double-double
    • Brianna Moss (Gainesville, Va./Battlefield) also had nine digs
  • Reya Taylor (Mullica Hill, N.J./Camden Catholic) led the Tigers with seven assists versus East Stroudsburg
 
Inside the Box Score
  • HFU 14 more kills than Saint Anselm, 51-37, while outhitting the Hawks .178-.129, but the Tigers were undone by 18 service errors and 17 reception errors.
