NEW CASTLE, Del. – The HFU volleyball team opened play at Wilmington's Wildcat Regional Invitational on Friday, winning a 29-27 first set over Southern Connecticut State in its second match of the day.
After the Tigers dropped a close 22-25 second set, the Owls won the third and fourth 10-25 and 15-25.
Earlier in the day, Shepherd defeated Holy Family in three sets (12-25, 17-25, 15-25).
Individual Highlights
- Morgan Steck (Lakewood, Colo./Lakewood) led all players with 30 assists in the nightcap, after posting a team-high 20 assists in the opener
- Keira Rogan (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) had double the amount of digs as any other player with a career-best 25 against SCSU
- Gianna DiPilato (Verbank, N.Y./Millbrook) paced HFU in kills in both matches, with eight and nine respectively
- She added 10 digs to fall one kill shy of a double-double against the Owls
- Ava Kidd (Walton, Ky./Larry A. Ryle (Saint Anselm)) also had nine kills versus Southern Connecticut
