In a significant day for the institution and the athletic department, Holy Family University officially broke ground on a new athletic fieldhouse on Thursday afternoon.
At a ceremony attended by trustees, PAC members, alumni and alumni board members, faculty, staff, and student-athletes, HFU President Dr. Anne Prisco, Athletic Director Tim Hamill '04 and Advancement Chair from the Board of Trustees and Alumni Jim Bennett '82 all provided remarks.
The fieldhouse will provide much-needed locker rooms for home and away teams and officials, as well as public restrooms for students, families, and fans, community space, game-day concession stands, and an athletic training room.
Ideally located between Stevenson Lane and the Campus Center and in proximity to the athletic complex, this critical facility will also benefit community residents who utilize the campus for learning, physical wellness, and socialization.
The fieldhouse will be completed in 2025.
"I am extremely proud of the advances the athletics program has made under the leadership of Tim Hamill. Tim has seen this program grow and has brought us into this next generation of HFU Athletics. I'd like to take the time to thank all the trustees, PAC members and alumni board members present. Their service to HFU is extremely important to the advancement of our university. Holy Family University is proud to be adding to our $116 million economic impact with the construction of this fieldhouse. Buildings like this mean jobs and bring a boost to our local economy. As an anchor institution, this is extremely important to Holy Family." -Dr. Anne Prisco
"I am excited to oversee this ceremony as we officially break ground for our new athletic fieldhouse. Holy Family Athletics has expanded significantly, and it has been my great pleasure to oversee this progress. Many of our student-athletes are Northeast Philadelphia born and raised, and it means a great deal that our elected officials are willing to invest funding in their success. On behalf of our students and our coaches, as well as our proud alumni, faculty and staff, thank you for your continued support of HFU." -Tim Hamill
"As an alumnus, it is extremely exciting for me to see construction happening at my alma mater. The progress does not stop here as the construction continues in the fall, and I look forward to seeing you at future ground breakings. Congratulations to our students that will be able to take advantage of this new facility. I hope this investment not only adds to your experience as a Holy Family student-athlete, but builds comradery amongst our teams and helps us bring home more championships. This is truly a wonderful university community, and I am proud to serve as a member of your board. I know what it feels like to be invested in by this university, and I am honored and grateful to be a part of the board bringing this opportunity to you. Go Tigers!" – Jim Bennett
