NEW CASLTE, Del. – The Holy Family University softball team led 6-2 following four and a half innings of game two at No. 22 Wilmington on Friday, only for the Wildcats to comeback for a 6-8 win.
WilmU won game one 3-10.
Individual Highlights
- Rylee Hobel (Coopersburg, Pa./Southern Lehigh) reached base in all four at-bats in the nightcap, finishing the doubleheader 4-for-6 with a triple, walk, three runs, three RBI and three stolen bases
- Hobel now ranks seventh in program history with 16 career stolen bases
- Alexis Letizia (Toms River, N.J./Donovan Catholic) went 2-for-3 with two RBI in game two, while Jaden Kelly (West Deptford, N.J./West Deptford) scored two runs
- Makenna Patterson (Sellersville, Pa./Pennridge) threw three innings of one-run relief in the opener, while Carlie Miller (Hermitage, Pa./Hickory) reached twice via a double and a base on balls
How it Happened
Second Game
- Holy Family had four hits in a four-run second, beginning with one-out singles by Molly Moore (Conshohocken, Pa./Plymouth Whitemarsh) and Kylee Jones (Hulmeville, Pa./Neshaminy (Rider))
- Moore came home on Kelly's sacrifice, before Hobel tripled two home
- Letizia then capped the frame with a two-out RBI single
- The Tigers then answered Wilmington's two-run third with a two-run fourth, beginning with Kelly's one-out base on balls
- Hobel followed with a single and after the two executed a double steal, Miller (single) and Letizia (sacrifice fly) followed with back-to-back RBI
- Kinsley Hall (Frankford, Del./Indian River (Mount Olive)) kept WilmU off the board for a third time in the fourth, but the Wildcats finally broke out with four hits in the fifth to tie the game at 6-6
- Wilmington then came through with back-to-back two-out RBI base knocks in the sixth
First Game
- HFU took a first inning lead thanks to Hobel's leadoff single and stolen base and Paige Tidaback's (Carteret, N.J./St. Thomas Aquinas) two-out single, but the Wildcats responded by scoring in each of its first five at-bats
