MELBOURNE, Fla – The Holy Family University softball team defeated Davenport 6-2 on the final day of its spring break trip on Saturday.
Freshman
Molly Moore (Conshohocken, Pa./Plymouth Whitemarsh) earned her first career collegiate win with a complete game performance in which she allowed just one earned run on five hits, with five strikeouts against no base on balls.
Lily Hoban's (Millsboro, Del./Indian River) leadoff double in the second led to the Tigers opening the scoring following
Carlie Miller's (Hermitage, Pa./Hickory) sacrifice and
Lauren Hagy's (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) single.
HFU then broke the game open with a three-run fifth that began with
Kylee Jones' (Hulmeville, Pa./Neshaminy (Rider)) bunt single.
Rylee Hobel (Coopersburg, Pa./Southern Lehigh) kept the inning alive with a two-out walk, and the two came around on
Alexis Letizia's (Toms River, N.J./Donovan Catholic) single. Letizia would later come home on a wild pitch.
Davenport got on the board with a two-run homer in the sixth, but the Tigers immediately canceled those runs out thanks to singles by Miller, Moore and Hobel in the bottom-half, the latter two of which sandwiched a
Madison Grubb (Swedesboro, N.J./Kingsway) base on balls.
