Baseball Travels to Defending CACC Champion Felician

LYNDHURST, N.J. – The HFU baseball team traveled to defending Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Tournament champion Felician for a doubleheader on Tuesday.

It took scoring in just five at-bats, but the Golden Falcons defeated the Tigers 0-8 and 0-7.

Individual Highlights
  • Denis Szychulski (Philadelphia, Pa./Father Judge (Bucks County CC)) threw scoreless innings of relief in game two, scattering three hits with three strikeouts
  • Nathan Kuhta (Highlands Ranch, Colo./Highlands Ranch (Ottawa University)) tossed a scoreless frame in the opener
  • Brian Comer (Charlotte, N.C./Independence (Bucks County CC)) and Dalton Turner (Langorne, Pa./Neshaminy (Bucks County CC)) had a hit in both games

How it Happened
First Game
  • Only one runner reached scoring position in the first three innings, as Levi Tucker (Denver, Colo./Brighton (Garden City CC)) faced the minimum
  • Jon Martinez (Camden, N.J./Timber Creek Regional (Camden CC)) doubled to lead off the fourth, but HFU could not capitalize and Felician opened the scoring with a two-run bottom-half on three two-out hits
  • Turner and Alex Camilo (Cambridge, Ontario/Monsignor Doyle (Alliance University)) began the fifth with back-to-back singles, and Isaac Criss (Grove City, Pa./Grove City (Bucks County CC)) drew a two-out base on balls, but the Tigers left the bases loaded
  • The Golden Falcons would carry that momentum into the bottom-half, plating two more runs to take control
Second Game
  • Felician jumped on Holy Family early with a three-run second, and the game's only other runs came in a four-run sixth

Up Next
