PHILADELPHIA – For the second time in two weeks, the HFU women's basketball team knocked off a top-13 team as it defeated No. 13 Jefferson 74-64 on Saturday afternoon inside of the Campus Center.
A 10-2 run over the end of the first half and beginning of the second established a three-possession advantage for good.
Ahead 27-26 in the final two minutes of the second quarter,
Kara Meredith (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Archbishop Wood) played a part in all seven points of a half-ending 7-2 surge that established a 34-28 cushion at the break after five consecutive points from
Lola Ibarrondo (Bristol, Pa./Neshaminy).
Jessica Riepe (Marlboro, N.J./Marlboro) then hit a 3-pointer 32 seconds out of the locker room, and the Rams could only get as close as seven three times in the third quarter.
The final time came at 47-40 in the final two minutes, but four consecutive
Taylor Hinkle (Chalfont, Pa./Central Bucks South) points helped the Tigers go up 53-42 entering the fourth.
The lead fluttered between eight and a game-high 13 for the entirety of the fourth.
Individual Highlights
- Hinkle had double the amount of rebounds as any other player with a season-best 16 and added a game-high 18 points on 8-of-13 shooting for her second double-double of the season
- Skyler Searfoss (Jim Thorpe, Pa./Jim Thorpe Area) flirted with a triple-double with 14 points, seven boards and game-highs of a career-best seven assists and four steals
- Riepe also had 14 points, including making 4-of-9 3-pointers
- Carolyn Prevost (Belle Mead, N.J./Montgomery) made it four Tigers in double-figures, finishing with 11 points on 5-of-8 field goals
- Ibarrondo's seven points on 3-of-4 shooting were one shy of a season-best

How it Happened
- The Tigers scored the first four points to hold the only multiple-possession lead of the first quarter, which ended with Jefferson on top 12-14 after it beat the buzzer
- Holy Family opened the second with seven unanswered, sparking an 11-2 surge that featured points from five different Tigers, including a Hinkle jumper that established a first-half-high 23-16 cushion with 4:50 on the clock
- Jefferson got as close as one twice, including at 27-26 in the final two minutes prior to HFU's strong close to the half
