PHILADELPHIA – The HFU men's basketball team shook off a slow start that included a 16-point deficit to pull within one twice in the second half, but the Tigers could never get over the hump in an eventual 68-78 loss to Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) leader Goldey-Beacom on Tuesday night in the Campus Center.
Holy Family found itself trailing 48-49 following a
David Robinson Jr. (Philadelphia, Pa./Chestnut Hill Academy) with 11:12 left and 52-53 on a
Jason Shields (Scranton, Pa./Scranton (Jefferson University)) 3-pointer with 9:28 to go, but each time the Lightning had a answer.
It was only a four-point deficit when
Tairi Ketner (Philadelphia, Pa./Woodstock Academy (University at Albany)) completed a three-point play at the 5:20 mark, only for GBC to respond with back-to-back triples to make it a double-digit advantage for good.

- Shields topped the Tigers 14 points, with Aamir Hurst (Philadelphia, Pa./Neumann Goretti) joining him in double-figures with 11

How it Happened
First Half
- Trailing 4-20 midway through the first, Holmes sparked HFU off the bench as he scored seven points in an 18-6 run that got the Tigers as close as close as 22-24 on a Shields 3-pointers 5:45 ahead of the half
- A Robinson Jr. dunk also cut the deficit to two, 24-26, 1:42 later, but GBC would respond with eight unanswered to reestablish a double-digit advantage before Ketner closed the period with a layup for a 26-34 score-line entering the locker room
Second Half
- Holy Family tallied the first five points of the second half, and the game was played within two possession until the Lightning went ahead 53-60 with 6:42 remaining
