How it Happened
Molloy
- Tied for a ninth time in the first at 21-21, HFU closed out the opening set with the final four points, both beginning and ending with a Kinzer point
- Trailing 3-4, the Tigers took control with five unanswered that included both Yanief and Petrasovic taking part in three points
- This time HFU was down 4-5, but again it was five straight points that gave the Tigers control as back-to-back points by Kidd helped lead to the eventual sweep
Queens
- Holy Family led by as many three thrice in the opening set, including at 14-11, but Queens would close on a 7-14 run
- The Tigers jumped out to 6-3 lead in the second thanks to four straight points, three of which Bachman played a part in, but the Knights answered with seven of the next eight and would not trail again
- In the third, Queens tallied the first six points, led by as many as 10 and was still up 10-17 until HFU stormed back with a set-ending 15-3 surge that featured four kills from Yanief
- The Tigers again erased an early deficit in the fourth, this one 1-5, coming back to take a 10-9 advantage thanks to four consecutive points, two of which were Boylan aces, but the Knights were finally able to pull away thanks to four successive points of their own that gave them the lead for good
