Josiah Thompson Hired as Assistant Athletic Trainer

The Holy Family University Department of Athletics is pleased to announce the hiring of Josiah Thompson as an assistant athletic trainer.

"We are excited to grow our athletic training staff in order to continue to provide the highest possible level of care for our student-athletes," said Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine Sara Miraglia. "Being able to add an athletic trainer as passionate as Josiah to our staff will benefit all of our student-athletes."

Thompson joins HFU after completing his Master of Science in Athletic Training from the University of Connecticut.

During his first year with the Huskies, he worked with the baseball, volleyball, swimming, crew and women's soccer teams, before spending last fall with the football program.

His time at UConn also saw him gain experience interning at Avon Old Farms Preparatory School, Hartford Athletic of United Soccer League, and most recently at Eastern Connecticut State University, where he managed all aspects of coverage and care for the men's lacrosse team.

While at Connecticut, Thompson was president of UConn Athletic Training Students and was a recipient of the Richard Wargo Student-Athletic Trainer Award for Outstanding Academic Performance.

Furthermore, he received the Connecticut Athletic Trainers' Association Mr./Mrs. Paul A. Sirop Scholarship and the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA) Foundation NBATA Joe O'Toole Scholarship, as he was a school ambassador for the NATA District 1 Student Leadership Committee.

Thompson holds additional professional experience as a personal trainer at Premier Personal Training, as well as a rehabilitation technician at both Integrated Rehabilitation Services and ATI Physical Therapy.

He was a Dean's List honoree at West Chester University, where he graduated magna cum laude with his Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science.

Prior to West Chester, he captained the men's soccer team at Bucks Country Community College, earning NJCAA All-Region First Team, All-EPAC First Team and Team MVP honors as a goalkeeper.
