Men’s Basketball Falls to Chestnut Hill

PHILADELPHIA – The Holy Family University men's basketball team was defeated 52-83 by Chestnut Hill on Tuesday night at the Campus Center.
 
Individual Highlights
  • Eric Esposito (Langhorne, Pa./Conwell Egan) (19) and Rick'Keem Mixson (Linden, N.J./St. Mary of the Assumption (Raritan Valley CC)) (13) had the game's two highest point totals
  • Esposito also led the Tigers with three assists and moved into ninth in program history with 521 career defensive rebounds
  • David Robinson Jr. (Philadelphia, Pa./Chestnut Hill Academy) fell one rebound shy of his eighth double-double of the season, while also leading all players with a career-high three steals
  • Josh Thomas (Queens, N.Y./Hodgson Vo-Tech (Cecil College)) led all players with a season-best two steals
  • Evan Esposito (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) notably scored a season-high four points

How it Happened 
  • Chestnut Hill scored the first four points as part of an opening 2-8 run and led throughout
  • Mixon's free throw with 12:02 showing got Holy Family as close as 8-10, only to have the Griffins score five in a row to make it a two-possession advantage for good
  • Esposito scored seven HFU points, and he assisted a Robinson Jr. layup that got the Tigers within 17-21 with 6:44 left in the half
  • Chestnut Hill would take control with 10 unanswered though, beginning a 2-13 stretch for the largest lead of the first half, 19-34, entering the locker room
  • HFU managed to cut the deficit to 14 twice early in the second half, including at 29-43 on a Thomas foul shot with 14:23 to go, before CHC took control with a 1-11 flurry
