Women’s Soccer Explodes for Three Goals in Overtime to Advance to CACC Tournament Semifinals for Fourth Straight Season

PHILADELPHIA – The HFU women's soccer team scored three goals in under 10 minutes in overtime to clinch a fourth consecutive Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Tournament Semifinal appearance with a 3-0 win over Dominican at Tiger Field on Sunday afternoon.

Holy Family advances to take on top-seeded Jefferson in a 10 a.m. match hosted by Bridgepor on Friday.

Izzy Mignon (Pipersville, Pa./Central Bucks East) broke the deadlock via the penalty spot 3:41 into the first overtime period following a foul on Brynn Hess (Benton, Pa./Benton) in the box.

Hess then made it 2-0 3:36 later after getting on the end of a Bella Scurci (Selbyville, Del./Indian River) just inside the top right of the box and firing a right footed shot into the bottom right corner.

Abbie D'Ambra (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill West) put an exclamation overtime dominance 3:33 into the second extra period with a beautiful strike – assisted by Mel Prinos (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) - from outside the right side of the box that flew into the top left corner.

Mignon is now 2-for-2 from the penalty spot this season, while Scurci moves into a tie with Allison Loper (Bensalem, Pa./Nazareth Academy (Georgian Court)) for the team lead with four assists.

Hess' strike was her third goal of the year, while D'Ambra's was her second in two games. Prinos' assist was her first of the season.

Jaina Preuhs (Brookhaven, Pa./Sun Valley) made three saves in her third shutout of the year, most notably keeping the match deadlocked with a beautiful punch over the bar in the 86th minute.

She was protected by a defense that included Mignon, Lexi Murphy (Woolwich Township, N.J./Kingsway Regional (Saint Francis U)), Gianna Penecale (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Lower Moreland), Grace Joyce (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan), Maura Kilkenny (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Little Flower) and Rebecca Casper (Mullica Hill, N.J./Clearview Regional)

Both teams had 20 attempts, but the Tigers had 10 on net compared to the Chargers' three.

Hess led all players with five shots, three of which were on frame.
