PHILADELPHIA – Despite leading a majority of the contest, the HFU men's basketball team fell victim to a 10-18 run over the final 4:37 in a 68-74 loss to Molloy at the Campus Center on Tuesday evening
Individual Highlights
- Tazir Cantey (Lindenwold, N.J./Eastern Regional) led all players with five assists and a career-best three steals
- Ethan Pires (Dover, Del./The Pennington School (Millersville University)) paced the Tigers with 16 points, the game's second highest total, to set a career-best for the second game in a row
- David Robinson Jr. (Philadelphia, Pa./Chestnut Hill Academy) approached a double-double with 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting and eight rebounds, the games' second highest total
- Ryan Holmes (Philadelphia, Pa./William Penn Charter School (CC of Philadelphia)) scored in double-figures for the first time in his HFU career, finishing with 11 points
- Aamir Hurst (Philadelphia, Pa./Neumann Goretti) fell one point short of double-figures with nine

How it Happened
First Half
- The opening 17 minutes were played within two possessions, with seven lead changes and six ties
- Molloy's largest advantage of 3-6 came just 2:43 into the action
- Pires started an 8-2 surge with a 3-point play that ended with back-to-back baskets by Izaiah Credle (Smyrna, Del./Smyrna (Chesapeake College)) and Robinson Jr. for an HFU-high eight-point lead, 35-27, 2:42 ahead of the break
- The Lions scored the final six points though, cutting the deficit to two entering the locker room
Second Half
- Holy Family took two four-point advantages in the first 1:57, including on a Robinson Jr. dunk to make the score 39-35
- Molloy answered with the next six to take its first lead, 41-39, since the 8:38 mark of the first half with 16:01 to play
- The two teams traded points until a Jake McGonigle (Ocean City, N.J./Wildwood Catholic) jumper put the Tigers on top 48-45 with 11:33 showing
- Holy Family continued to lead, including by four again – 52-48 – on a Robinson Jr. with 9:31 left, until Molloy tied it at 56 on a three-point play with 6:38 on the clock
- Jason Shields (Scranton, Pa./Scranton (Jefferson University)) put the Tigers ahead one final time, 58-56, on a driving layup just over a minute later, but the Lions responded with yet another three-point play to go on top for good
- That came with 4:37 remaining, sparking six unanswered as HFU could only get as close as four twice down the stretch
