PHILADELPHIA – The HFU men's basketball team scored the first six points of the second half to break a halftime deadlock, establishing a mutliple-possession advantage that would last the remainder of the contest in a 63-57 victory over Georgian Court inside of the Campus Center on Wednesday night.
Individual Highlights
- Malik Archer (Philadelphia, Pa./Mathematics,Civics & Science Charter School (Beaver County CC)) and Rick'Keem Mixson (Linden, N.J./St. Mary of the Assumption (Raritan Valley CC)) had the two-highest point totals with 22 and a season-best 14, respectively
- David Robinson Jr. (Philadelphia, Pa./Chestnut Hill Academy) led all players with 15 rebounds, which tied a career-best, and two blocks
- He was also one of four Tigers with a team-high two steals, joining Archer, Mixson and Eric Esposito (Langhorne, Pa./Conwell Egan)
- Esposito fell one point shy of making it three Tigers in double-figures, and he led HFU with four assists
- Vernon Johnson (Teaneck, N.J./Teaneck) scored eight points on 3-of-4 shooting off the bench

- Holy Family limited the Lions to 31.3 percent shooting, 20-of-64, the second-lowest field goal percentage by an opponent this season
How it Happened
First Half
- Mixson scored the first five points of the night, before Esposito's 3-pointer capped an opening 10-3 run 4:55 in
- GCU came back with the next 12 points to take its first lead, but Archer and Johnson combined for every point in 14-4 surge that ended with HFU ahead 24-19 following a Johnson triple with 5:56 showing
- The Lions again had a response with seven unanswered, and the two teams traded points en route to a 31-31 score-line entering the locker room
Second Half
- Holy Family scored the first six points of the second, the final four of which were by Esposito, as the Tigers led by multiple possession the remainder of the contest
- Georgian Court cut the deficit to four six times, but each time HFU had an answer
- The penultimate occurrence came at 46-42 with 11:10 to go, only to have the Tigers rip off eight in a row for the largest of the night
- Archer both began and ended the stretch, which featured the Lions being held scoreless for 6:24, as his trifecta made the score 54-42 with just 6:32 remaining
- His floater just over two minutes later also made it a 12-point game, 56-44
- GCU had one final run to within four, 52-56, as a layup capped eight unanswered with 2:16 left, but Mixon's three-point play 37 seconds after established the cushion needed for the win
